Here's a sample of what's to come in the concert on Monday night. We actually start with Raiders of the Lost Ark. So. Much. Fun. Music starts at 0:53. Cello section solo starts at 2:54 and goes to 4:24. Plus, whoever took this photo got an artsy shot of the video montage they had behind the orchestra. We don't have such luck there since ours will be outside. A side note: the conductor is John Williams who wrote the entire soundtrack to not only Raiders, but E.T. and Jurassic Park which we will also be playing. If you come, find me on the stage after and say hi. :)

cello's distant relative
My husband and I both served missions in Mongolia. Many of you have asked what that strange instrument is in the corner of the music room. While mine isn't the best quality and I haven't been trained in playing it, I thought I would post this amazing clip of one of the modern cello's distant relatives: the moriin khuur or horse-headed instrument in direct translation. (We call this the Mongolian cello in our house.) Click below and enjoy!
